Hello NLCP Family hope you all enjoyed your weekend. ON Friday NLCP Girls track and Field Traveled to Bloomington IL and the Campus of Illinois Wesleyan University for the 2016 Indoor Prep Top Times meet ( IHSA Indoor State meet). Over the past 7 year NLCP has always gone into the indoor state meet and performed well and this year would be no different. Sr. Takedia Howze finishes 7th in the triple jump with an NLCP School record jump of 34 ft.11 inches and finish as an ALL-state jumper. Our 3rd ranked 4x200n relay team was hurt with the injury to Sophomore Ari Foster and we had to settle for a 9th place finish. The bis news of the day was Senior Gabby DesRosiers had a day to remember she was enter in 3 events the 60m dash, 200m Dash and the 400m Dash. Winning the Triple Crown is a hard thing to do and has only been achieved by 4 other young ladies in the Indoor states 44 year history and our very on Ms. DesRosiers did just that on Saturday winning the 60m dash in 7.81 seconds the 400m dash in 57.15 seconds and the 200m Dash in 25.05 seconds. To put her day in perspectives she ran 4 times in the span of 2 hours and 8 minutes and missed the 400m state indoor record by .10 seconds and missing the 200m record by .13 seconds. Gabby will be chasing the outdoor triple crown which is the 100,200 and 400 come outdoor state in May.
NLCP Track & Field is in full go mode after a great weekend of National Competition for our Teams. The last two weekends NLCP Track has traveled and competed on a high level at the two largest High School indoor Invitational. Jan. 8-9 we traveled to Texas A&M to competed against the best that Texas had to offer and each our our Young People finished in the top 20 of their events with Gabby DesRosiers finishing 9th in the 400M dash in 57.99(NLCP 2nd All-time) out of 123 400m runners and in the 200m dash Gabby finished 8th in a time of 25.20. Brittany Finished 18th in the open 400m dash with a 59.89 and 15th in the 200m dash in 26.78 Brit and Gabby Teamed with two runners from IL High Schools to to finished 6th out of 66 teams in the 4x400m Relay where Gabby lead off the relay with a 55.65 400m dash and Brit ran leg two of the relay and ran a 58.91 split. Fast forward to this past weekend where the track team and I traveled to Fayetteville Arkansas to the Razorback High School Invitational where Ari Foster, Jakyra MaGee, Tekida Howze, Joshua Alexander,Titi Campbell, joined Gabby and Britt in the PR setting and in setting the track on fire in Arkansas. Tekida made her first National Finals in the Triple Jump where she finished 9th out of 28 jumpers. While Titi,Ari,Jakyra and Josh all set new indoor Personal records. Gabby is now the U.S. number 8 ranked 200m High School sprinter after her 3rd place finish in the 200m dash in a time of 24.66(Number 2 all time on NLCP Indoor List). Gabby was also part of the record setting 4x4 relay team that won the meet in a time of 3:50.78 Gabby open the Relay with a 55.46 split. NLCP will be in action at University of Illinois on Jan 30th then we are home at Proviso West for the month of Feb if anyone would like to come check our young people out.
